Winter FAB 50-ranked Foothill (Calif.) capped an impressive two days at the Tri-Valley Classic with another shutout victory, 1-0 over Las Lomas in the championship match.

Foothill did not allow a goal in its four matches, which included victories over Las Osos (2-0), Horizon (5-0) and Hockaday School (Texas) (1-0).

"Coming into this tournament our focus was last year we fell short not due to winning games, but due to points," Foothill head coach Ron Lambert said. "Our big focus was not to allow a lot of goals."

Las Lomas rushed the goal in the opening minute
and seemed to have the goal only to have a Foothill player make the save.

Six minutes later, Foothill had an one-on-one chance as Christina Wagner put the ball straight on goal only to have Las Lomas keeper Emily Garbez make the save.

With 14 minutes left in the first half, Foothill's Carlee Payne put the ball past the outstretched hands of Garbez and into the right side of the goal for a 1-0 lead.

For the rest of the match Las Lomas was unable to break Foothill's back line as Corinne Shreve ran down every ball that looked destined for a Las Lomas forward.

Shreve filled in after Foothill suffered an injury in its back line during Thursday night's match.

"This year, with the team I have, I have a lot of depth," Lambert said. "When you have an injury it's kind of nice having a player who can fill that slot."

Earlier in the day, Foothill defeated Hockaday School as Amanda Simat scored on an assist from Rachel McGlinchy.

In other action on the final day, Miramonte defeated Mayfair 3-2 and lost 4-1 to Monte Vista. Courtney Jones scored the final two goals to seal the victory for Monte Vista. Lauren Anderson
and Shelby Wong scored the first two goals.

Las Osos and San Ramon Valley tied 0-0 and then both teams went on to win their next games 4-0. Las Osos defeated Clovis and San Ramon ousted Nolan Catholic (Texas). Jillian Armstrong scored three goals in the San Ramon win over Nolan Catholic and assisted on Rachel Cole's goal.

Mayfair defeated La Salle 2-0 to take fifth place in the tournament and Iolani ended its first trip to
the Tri-Valley Classic with a 1-0 win over Esperanza. Nicole Ha scored the only goal.

Ashley Bolden scored both goals in Hockaday's 2-0 victory over Carondolet.

The championship victory moves Foothill's record to 10-1 and proved that they are a rising power in Northern California.
