FAB 50-ranked Foothill (
Foothill did not allow a goal in its four matches, which included victories
over Las Osos (2-0), Horizon (5-0) and
"Coming into this tournament our focus was last year we fell short not due
to winning games, but due to points," Foothill head coach Ron Lambert
said. "Our big focus was not to allow a lot of goals."
Las Lomas rushed the goal in the opening minute
and seemed to have the goal only to have a Foothill player make the save.
Six minutes later, Foothill had an one-on-one chance as Christina Wagner put
the ball straight on goal only to have Las Lomas keeper Emily Garbez make the save.
With 14 minutes left in the first half, Foothill's Carlee
Payne put the ball past the outstretched hands of Garbez
and into the right side of the goal for a 1-0 lead.
For the rest of the match Las Lomas was unable to break Foothill's back line as
Corinne Shreve ran down every ball that looked destined for a Las Lomas
forward.
Shreve filled in after Foothill suffered an injury in its back line during
Thursday night's match.
"This year, with the team I have, I have a lot of depth," Lambert
said. "When you have an injury it's kind of nice having a player who can
fill that slot."

Las Osos and
Mayfair defeated
the Tri-Valley Classic with a 1-0 win over Esperanza. Nicole Ha scored the only
goal.
Ashley Bolden scored both goals in Hockaday's 2-0
victory over Carondolet.
The championship victory moves Foothill's record to 10-1 and proved that they
are a rising power in
